“What do you mean it’s a lie?”

The girl’s golden hair reflected in the dim light of the candles placed in various positions throughout the tent’s interior. Her face had an expression giving away a perplexing notion, yet she wasn’t the only one holding such a look.

Zan and Auriel held similar expressions of disbelief, confusion, and betrayal at the same time. Only Sherice, however, had a puzzled look on her face; that of eternal gratefulness, but also fear of what this meant for her and Vierizen.

Everyone wasn’t sure how to proceed with what they just heard so Mecalt left them there to process things on their own and feel whatever they had the liberty to feel, but inevitably, he had to explain himself at some point. After 2–3 minutes of silence, he started talking.

“As I said, it might take some time to digest what this truly means, so I’ll try to give you as much of the details as I can since you came all the way here for that. But after that, you will have to make up your own mind about what this means for you. I can’t tell you which is right or wrong; you are the ones constructing your beliefs about anything for yourself.”
